Center for Recruitment and Retention of Math Teachers (CRR)

The Thomas R. Brown Foundations are working to improve K-5 and middle school teacher and student competence and outcomes in math through grants to the UA Center for the Recruitment and Retention of Mathematics Teachers (CRR). The IMPACTS Program, Improving Mathematical Problem solving, Acumen and Confidence for K-5 and 6-8th grade Teachers and Students, seeks to affect fundamental change in students’ foundational math experiences through professional development and leadership development for teachers. The elements of the IMPACTS Program include teacher workshops, a summer institute for teachers, and development of teacher leaders - those who can help disseminate curriculum and pedagogy at their school site and can take on roles beyond their schools in the wider community.
